HOLIDAY DOO  WOP SHOW IN DECEMBER AT HEINZ HALL

Richard Nader’s Pittsburgh Holiday Doo Wop show, featuring legendary performers, commemorates the 50th Anniversary of “Only in America”

PITTSBURGH – Jay and The Americans will celebrate  the 50th  anniversary of the song
“Only in America” with a performance at Heinz Hall.

Jay & The Americans at Mellon Arena

Along with “Only in America,” the show will include  performances from Charlie Thomas Drifters (“Save the Last Dance  for Me”), Jay Siegel’s Tokens (“The Lion Sleeps Tonight”), Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs (“Stay”), The Chiffons (“One Fine Day”), Tommy Mara of The Crests (“Sixteen Candles”), and local Pittsburgh celebrities  Johnny Angel and The Halos.

The concert  will begin at 7:30 p.m. on December 19 at Heinz Hall.  Tickets, ranging from
$32.50  to $99.50,  can be purchased by calling the Heinz Hall box office at 412-392-4900, or at  www.heinzhall.org.

The song “Only in America” was originally recorded  by the Drifters, and was written as a protest for social ills, which soon became  identified with liberty and the American Dream.  The song was re-recorded by Jay and The Americans in 1963. Remnants of the Drifters’ voices can be heard on the erased track.

Richard Nader,  founder of Richard Nader Entertainment, Inc. believed  that “Only in America” was a song that could capture the feelings of a nation.  Coming from a Lebanese background,  Nader was a first generation  American, born in Masontown,  PA. Having served in the U.S. Army, his pride for America
continued  to grow.  While stationed in North Korea, Nader was a disc jockey, and after his service his love of music propelled  him to start the Rock and Roll Revival in 1969 at Madison Square Garden.   In 2009, Nader passed away, but his legacy continues  through Richard Nader Entertainment, Inc. driven by the love of music.
