Her newest album, Glad Rag Doll, released by Verve Records, dropped this month. The album, which is a collection of songs from the early 20th century, has already garnered wide critical acclaim.
“It rocks. It swings. It shuffles. It's sexy, sly, intimate, and exhilarating,” raved The Associated Press. The Seattle Times called it "one of her freshest, most satisfying albums in years. … Krall has struck vintage gold here --- again," while The New York Times said, “It has never been a bad idea to engage Ms. Krall's friskier side and it's satisfying to hear the swagger.” Uncut calls Krall’s new album “lively and irreverent … even tastier than you expected.”
Working for the first time with renowned producer T Bone Burnett and engineer Mike Piersante, Krall revels in a fresh sonic playground captured in the vivid grain and deep resonant focus of analog tape. Burnett has assembled a distinguished cast of remarkable men to complement Krall’s piano contribution at an 1890s Steinway upright.
“When I heard what the band was playing, I just freaked out,” Krall said in an interview published Oct. 6 in Billboard magazine. “I was just so happy to do it this way, to make these songs sound like they were written yesterday.”
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will not be performing with Krall at Heinz Hall. The PSO would like to recognize and thank BNY Mellon for its title sponsorship of this performance.
