Talus: Lindsay Merrill and Paul Rouphail
May 31-June 30, 2013
707 Penn Gallery
707 Penn Avenue, downtown Pittsburgh Cultural District
Pittsburgh, PA: Talus, at 707 Penn Gallery from May 31 - June 30, 2013, features works by Lindsay Merrill and Paul Rouphail. Monolithic skyscrapers, grounded airplanes, vacant bus stops. They are portals to literal and allegorical spaces. Paul Rouphail and Lindsay Merrill's meticulously crafted paintings can be seen as faithful renderings of urban architecture and mechanical flight. On a different level, the images contemplate what is not represented; a building without inhabitants, a sky without a horizon.
Lindsay Merrill received her BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in 2009. She lives and works in Pittsburgh, PA. www.lindsaymerrill.com
Paul Rouphail received his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in 2010. He lives and works in Pittsburgh, PA. www.paulrouphail.com
