PITTSBURGH, PA:    Afrobeat, Pittsburgh’s top DJ and the illustrious Sean Jones, will present an eclectic mix of good vibrations to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s summer Gallery Crawl on Friday July 13, 2012, at Katz Plaza, 7th Street and Penn Avenue, in downtown Pittsburgh's Cultural District.  “We wanted to blend African rhythms, American dance music and Classic jazz with thought provoking art exhibitions to create an unforgettable evening of celebration and reflection,” says Janis Burley Wilson, Vice President and Director of Jazz Programs for The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.

Occidental Brothers Dance Band International

DJ Nate Da Phat Barber gets the outdoor party started at 5:30 p.m. Then, the Occidental Brothers Dance Band International will play their renowned brand of Soukous, Ghanaian Highlife and African dance music in Pittsburgh for the first time, from 6:15 p.m. to 9 p.m. Hailing out of Chicago, OBDBI's high-energy Afrobeat rhythms have made them favorites of music critics and devotees around the world. Their music conjures thoughts of the golden age of African guitar bands of the 1970’s and 80’s.  After the Crawl, Nate Da Phat will come back to the turntables for a unique jam with special guest, Sean Jones.

Katz Plaza

Presented by The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Gallery Crawl events are free and open to the public.
