National Civilian Community Corps Team to be Hosted in Brownsville

Serving Appalachia’s Future One Community at a Time

The Brownsville Area Revitalization Corporation (BARC) in partnership with the Appalachian Coal Country Team (ACCT) is excited and proud to announce that we will be hosting a National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) Team in Brownsville, PA.

NCCC teams consist of 8 to 12 young men and women, 18 to 24 years old. All members have earned their place on an NCCC team by demonstrating a commitment to serve their community and to develop practical skills. Hosting a NCCC team gives BARC an opportunity to bring to the community a team of young, driven individuals who are committed to making a difference.

The NCCC team will be working in Brownsville from April 9 to April 19. During their time with us, the team members will be working on a variety of beautification projects throughout the community, in addition to taking part in BARC’s annual Spring Clean-Up Event on April 14th at 10:00 a.m.  The local Neighborhood Watch joins BARC in this annual effort to gather litter and clean up the streets of Brownsville.

When asked about the NCCC team’s visit to Brownsville, BARC’s VISTA Megan Sheesley said, “We are very excited to have such a dedicated group coming to our community.  It takes true commitment to serve with the National Civilian Community Corps and we are honored to welcome them to Brownsville. ”
