The REP opens 2013-2014 season with Arthur Miller’s ‘All My Sons’ at Pittsburgh Playhouse

Acclaimed producer, writer Robert A. Miller directs; show previews Sept. 5, runs Sept. 6-22

PITTSBURGH – The REP, Point Park University’s professional theatre company, opens its 2013-2014 season with All My Sons, Arthur Miller’s riveting story of a seemingly All-American family caught up in the struggle between personal responsibility and their duty to the nation.

Directed by Robert A. Miller, All My Sons previews on Thursday, Sept. 5, and runs Sept. 6-22, in the Rauh Theatre at the Pittsburgh Playhouse, 222 Craft Ave. Performances are 8 p.m., Thursday – Saturday, and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Arthur Miller’s first commercial success, All My Sons, tells the story of Joe Keller, a loving family man and successful businessman who harbors a tragic secret. While one son is presumed dead, missing in action during the war, his other son prepares to propose to the woman he loves, and, in one emotional day, Joe’s world begins to unravel before his very eyes. The play opened on at the Coronet Theatre in New York City in January 1947 and won Tony Awards for best author and best direction of a play.

The REP’s production of All My Sons features Philip Winters as Joe Keller, Penelope Miller Lindblom as Kate Keller, Shaun Cameron Hall as Chris Keller, Daina Michelle Griffith as Ann Deever, Justin Fortunato as George Deever, David Cabot as Dr. Jim Bayliss, Amy Landis as Sue Bayliss, Mark Tinkey as Frank Lubey, Erika Cuenca as Lydia Lubey, and Nicholas Vanhorenbeck as Bert. Scenic design is by Stephanie Mayer-Staley, lighting design by Lloyd Sobel, sound design by Steve Shapiro, and costume design by Joan Markert. Alicia DeMara is the stage manager.

Robert A. Miller has served as a Distinguished Master Artist in Residence at the Point Park University’s Conservatory of Performing Arts since 2009. An acclaimed Hollywood producer, director and screenwriter, he is best known for producing The Crucible, nominated for two Academy Awards and featuring Daniel Day-Lewis, Winona Ryder, Joan Allen and Paul Scofield. Miller also produced Focus, starring William H. Macy, Laura Dern and David Paymer. His directorial credits include Company of Angels in Hollywood, and Bend in the River, a live PBS broadcast featuring Ken Kesey. Miller has directed several plays for The REP, including his first-ever production of his father’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Death of a Salesman in 2008. He also directed The REP’s world premieres of The Umbrella Man in 2010 and A Child’s Guide to Heresy in 2011, and is a producer of the movie The Umbrella Man, filmed in 2012 in Pittsburgh and Dallas.
