Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Town Hall Project Presents
Doing Good



Locals talk about causes that moved them to take action plus a non-profit showcase and refreshments sponsored by Yelp Helps.



From 6 to 9 pm on Mon., Nov. 19, all three floors of Downtown’s O’Reilly Theater will be filled with people Doing Good. The second event in The Public’s Town Hall Project, presented with Yelp Helps, will start at 6 pm with a showcase of local non-profit organizations. Those attending this free event will be able to browse among tables and speak with organization members to learn about volunteer opportunities. Participating organizations include: The American Liver Foundation, Animal Rescue League, Arthritis Foundation, Dress For Success, East End Cooperative Ministry, Family House, Gay 4 Good, Gilda’s Club, Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank, Greater Pittsburgh Literacy Council, Heinz History Center, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Mattress Factory, National Ovarian Cancer Society, Persad Center, Strong Women Strong Girls, Tree Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Pittsburgh CLO, Toonseum, Who’s Your Brother, and WYEP/WESA. Also during this time complimentary refreshment samples will be provided by 1947 Tavern, Burgatory, Elbow Room, Franktuary, Fuze, Great Lakes Brewery, Honest Tea, Kaleidoscope CafĂ©, Oh My Grill, Om Nom Bake Shop, and Wigle Whiskey.





At 7 pm Doing Good continues in the auditorium with a panel discussion during which Pittsburghers will talk about causes that moved them to take action. Introduced by Producing Artistic Director Ted Pappas and moderated by KDKA TV’s Lynne Hayes-Freeland, an open mic will be available for audience participation. Panelists include Heather Starr Fiedler, creator of the toy drive Play It Forward; Kristen Holloway, founder of Operation: Troop Appreciation; Thomas Hughes, volunteer with Assemble, a space for arts and technology; and Mac Howison of The Sprout Fund, which supports activities to enrich our region. The Town Hall Project is presented in conjunction with Good People, the second play in Pittsburgh Public Theater’s MADE IN AMERICA season. Good People, by David Lindsay-Abaire, runs through Dec. 9. OTA Chooses Military/Veterans Cause for Giving Campaign



Operation Troop Appreciation (OTA) has been chosen as a military/veterans cause for the current
Chase Community Giving Program!

This means that we are eligible to receive a portion of a $5 Million grant they are donating to charities - but we need your vote to get our share.
Between September 7th and September 19th, you can cast your vote for OTA. The more votes we get, the more money we will receive!

OTA is a 100% volunteer organization that has helped over 100,000 members of the United States Military. More than 98% of of every dollar we receive goes directly to the troops we help.

 PITTSBURGH, PA, August 2012 – Hug-a-Thon Pittsburgh™ Day broke the world record for the Largest Group Hug in a Tent on August 11, 2012, when 73 Pittsburghers came together to hug each other all at once under the tent in Schenley Park. But we are raising money for four charities: Cancer Caring Center, Sickle Cell Society, Pittsburgh Passion’s Passion for Life, and Operation Troop Appreciation. Operation Troop Appreciation Tickets Fore Charity at the Mylan Classic

Although OTA is not hosting a golf outing this year, no summer would be complete without a day on the links with OTA!

That is why we are proud to announce our partnership with the Mylan Classic’s ANSYS TICKETS Fore CHARITY™ program.



Through this program, friends of OTA have the opportunity to purchase tournament tickets for the Mylan Classic which in turn donates 100% of the purchase price to our charity.

The Mylan Classic is one of 26 events on the PGA TOUR’s Nationwide Tour schedule for 2011.

It will be held August 29 – September 4 at Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg, PA.

The event will draw 156 Nationwide Tour professionals from as many as 20 countries vying for one of the 25 PGA TOUR cards that will be awarded to the leading money winners at the end of the year.

Also visiting Washington County during tournament week will be the players’ families, caddies, Pro-Am participants, corporate guests, television crews, Tour staff members, volunteers and over 20,000 spectators.
