Celtic Woman Celebrates 10th Anniversary World Tour

Named Billboard Magazines #1 World Albums Artist Six Times

Pittsburgh - Benedum Center March 10

New York, NY February 3, 2015 -- Irish music sensation Celtic Woman returns to North America in 2015 for a concert tour celebrating the group’s 10th anniversary. The 10th Anniversary World Tour offers a one-of-a-kind concert experience celebrating a decade of timeless music and dance from the Emerald Isles.  The tour recently kicked off in Dublin, Ireland, and will travel across Europe, the US, Australia and United Kingdom. The North American leg launches in Syracuse, NY on March 6, 2015, and will visit more than 80 cities through the end of June.

Celtic Woman performs in Pittsburgh, PA on Tuesday, March 10 at 7pm at the Benedum Center. Tickets, starting at $44.25 (plus applicable fees), are available by calling 412-456-6666 and in person at the box office at Theater Square. For more information, please visitTrustarts.org

Over the past decade, Celtic Woman has emerged as an international touring powerhouse, attracting such critical raves as “guaranteed standing ovation!,” “captivating!,” “magnificently performed!,” “breathlessly dramatic!” and “inspirational!” The group has performed for over three million fans, selling out prestigious concert halls and performing arts venues around the world.

The multi-platinum all-female ensemble is thrilled to celebrate its incredible decade-long journey in America, where the group has performed its fresh fusion of Irish musical tradition in 48 states.

“Celtic Woman has toured around the world for ten years, but America remains true to our heart,” says violinist Máiréad Nesbitt.  “Our first American concert was in Cleveland in 2005 – the home of rock n’ roll. We are all really looking forward to celebrating with all our fans back in America. Even after ten years, it’s still an inspiration to look out into the audience each night and see fans of all ages, from 3 to 93. It’s going to really be an amazing show.”

The 10th Anniversary World Tour showcases three world-class vocalists and a brilliant Celtic violinist, whose talent and charisma bring centuries of musical and cultural tradition to vibrant life.  The performances honor Celtic Woman’s musical history while looking towards the future, with glamorous new dresses, breathtaking choreography and state-of-the-art stage production. The tour features a career-spanning set encompassing such Irish classics as “Danny Boy,” and “Mo Ghile Mhear,” alongside contemporary compositions like “Scarborough Fair” and “You Raise Me Up.” The 15-member ensemble also includes Irish dancers, the Aontas Choir, and a full band playing an array of traditional Celtic instruments including bodhran, hand crafted tin whistle, bouzouki, bagpipes and Uilleann pipes.

In conjunction with the tour’s North American leg, PBS will broadcast a television special highlighting Celtic Woman’s spectacular moments over the past decade.  A companion CD, Fan Favorites, will also be offered exclusively through PBS stations as part of its spring pledge drive.

Celtic Woman made its television debut in 2005 with a sold-out performance at The Helix in Dublin, which was filmed and broadcast in the United States on PBS.  Although initially intended as a one-time-only event, the concert was so warmly received by the public that the group immediately followed with a debut concert tour in the United States. Since then, Celtic Woman's uplifting music has touched the hearts of a devoted audience in North America, while expanding its reach across the globe to six continents and 23 countries.

Celtic Woman’s massive success encompasses albums, live concerts and television.  Their eight PBS specials have ranked among the network’s most-watched music programs.  Since 2005, the group has sold more than eight million copies of its nine CDs and eight DVDs, making it the only all-female act to achieve multi-platinum success in both the classical crossover and world music genres during the past decade.  Each of its nine CDs - the most recent being 2013’s Emerald Musical Gems - has debuted at #1 on Billboard's World Album chart, where the group has occupied the top slot for a record-breaking 112 consecutive weeks.  Having been named Billboardmagazine's World Albums Artist of the Year six times, Celtic Woman has also scored two Top 10 debuts on Billboard's main album chart and five Top Five DVDs on Billboard's Top Video chart, as well as achieving platinum-level sales in nine different countries.  The group has also performed for three U.S. presidents and made high-profile appearances on the daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful and Dancing with the Stars.

Riverdance Returns to Pittsburgh

Riverdance Comes to The Benedum Center in Pittsburgh

February 25-26, 2011

Pittsburgh Riverdance Tickets On Sale Now!

Riverdance, the thunderous celebration of Irish music, song, and dance that has tapped its way onto the world stage thrilling millions of people around the globe, will play three performances at The Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, PA on February 25-26, 2011. NewSpace Entertainment is proud to be the presenter of what the Washington Post calls “A Phenomenon of Historic Proportions.” Pittsburgh Riverdance tickets are on sale now - to purchase, visit Ticketmaster (the official Pittsburgh Riverdance ticket source), Ticketmaster Outlets, or call 800-745-3000.

“Since 1996, the success of Riverdance in North America has gone beyond our wildest dreams,” said producer Moya Doherty. “The fact that the show continues to draw and excite audiences 15 years after its debut in Dublin is a tribute to every dancer, singer, musician, staff and crew member who have dedicated themselves to the show.”

Composed by Bill Whelan, produced by Moya Doherty and directed by John McColgan, to date, Riverdance has played over 10,000 performances, been seen live by more than 22 million people in over 350 venues throughout 40 countries across 4 continents. They have traveled well over 600,000 miles (or to the moon and back!), played to a worldwide television audience of 2 billion; sold over 3 million copies of the Grammy Award-winning CD (certified Platinum in the US) and over 10 million videos making it one of the best-selling entertainment videos in the world! Riverdance had its world premiere at the Point Theatre, Dublin, in February 1995, where it opened to unanimous critical acclaim.

What began as a seven-minute dance segment on the 1994 Eurovision Song Contest (televised to over 300 million people in Europe) and then quickly turned into a full-scale production has become much more than an international theatrical success. “I believe Riverdance has been basically a pathfinder,” said Niall O’Dowd, founder of Irish America Magazine and the Irish Voice newspaper. Along with the peace process in Northern Ireland and the economic miracle in Ireland proper, the show “has been a hugely important part of a transformation of the image of Ireland in the last 20 years.”

In a flash, Riverdance became Ireland’s greatest ambassador and the thirst began. Riverdance changed the face of Irish dance and despite its imitators, has remained on top and was voted the #1 Variety/Family Entertainment Show in the US (1998). There have been many milestones along the way including the distinction of being the largest Western musical to play China; a record-breaking line of 100 Irish dancers mesmerizing 85,000 people at the 2004 Special Olympics in Dublin; a 10th Anniversary celebration at Radio City Music Hall; dancing in Red Square and on the Great Wall of China and much more.

Of all the performances to emerge from Ireland in the past decade, nothing can compare to the energy, the sensuality and the spectacle of Riverdance. An innovative and exciting blend of dance, music and song, Riverdance draws on Irish traditions and the combined talents of the performers propel Irish dancing and music to the present day capturing the imagination of audiences across all ages and cultures. This extraordinarily unique show features an international company all performing to the magic of Bill Whelan’s music.

Don’t miss what will be one of the most exciting events in Pittsburgh this year when Riverdance arrives for three performances at The Benedum Center February 25-26, 2011. Get your Riverdance tickets for Pittsburgh today!
