ELECTION 2016: EDUCATION

Election initiative includes website with background information

PITTSBURGH – WQED’s Chris Moore hosts the fourth in a series of local discussion programs focusing on important issues this election year. Election 2016: Education airs Thursday, May 26 at 8pm on WQED-TV.


In this month's Election 2016 program, the focus is education. Host Chris Moore and panelists will take a closer look at subjects like Common Core, the National School Lunch Program and the escalating costs of higher education.

WQED’s Chris Moore will moderate a panel discussion that includes:

·       Linda Hippert, Ph.D.
Executive Director, Allegheny Intermediate Unit

·       Ashley Woodson, Ph.D.
Assistant Professor, University of Pittsburgh School of Education

Each month, WQED’s Election 2016 devotes the entire 30-minutes to a specific topic - chosen based on election polling and issues that are of interest to the Pittsburgh region.

Viewers can access www.wqed.org/election2016 to view past episodes and other election-related content, including an interview with Pennsylvania Secretary of State Pedro Cortes on the importance of voter registration.

The first special Election 2016: The Economy and Jobs aired February 25 followed by Election 2016: Health Care on March 31 and Election 2016: National Security on April 21.
