Single tickets are on sale Wednesday, July 31 and happy birthday Harry Potter! Ticket prices start at $35. Potted Potter is written and performed by Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner with direction by Richard Hurst. The creative team includes Simon Scullion (Sets),Tim Mascall (Lighting), Phil Innes (Music), Richard Hurst (additional material) and Hanna Berrigan (Associate Director).
Corey Ross/Starvox Entertainment and James Seabright/Potted Productions are the producers of Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience – A Parody by Dan and Jeff. Said Corey Ross, president of Starvox Entertainment,“After a wildly successful extended run at New York’s Little Shubert Theater we are delighted to finally hit the road.” Adding., “Potted Potter is a wonderfully entertaining time for all ages, both fans and neophytes of the Harry Potter phenomenon alike and we are planning for even more tour dates into 2013.”
Written and performed by former BBC Television hosts Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner, the play takes on the ultimate challenge of condensing, or “potting”, all seven Harry Potter books into 70 madcap minutes, aided only by multiple costume changes, brilliant songs, ridiculous props and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic. The show also invites audiences to engage with a real life game of Quidditch, but according to Clarkson and Turner’s unique set of rules.
Whether you camped outside a bookstore for three days awaiting the release of the Deathly Hallows or you don’t know the difference between a Horcrux and a Hufflepuff, the comedy, magic and mayhem of Potted Potter makes for an entertaining and hilarious visit to the theatre. The fast-paced show, which has made audiences aged six to Dumbledore roar with laughter all over the world, is perfect for the entire family. The Daily Telegraph raves, “A fabulously funny parody…will tickle the funny bone of every age group.” The New York Post writes the show is “…a zany hoot!” while Time Magazine for Kids simply declares that Potted Potter is"...an AWESOME show!"
Dan Clarkson graduated from Bretton Hall in 2000 with a spring in his step and a smile on his face. He is best known for being one half of the double act Dan and Jeff, creators of both Potted Potter and Potted Pirates. Last year with Jeff, Dan had a fantastic time presenting on CBBC, appearing on Blue Peter and TMI as well as getting his first ever piece of fan mail! Other TV credits include Big Brother’s Little Brother, Where the Heart Is, Coronation Street and Emmerdale. Film includes The Usual Children, The Guilty Hunter and Finding Beckham. Theatre includes Accidental Death of an Anarchist, Little Shop of Horrors, Art and Sketch Machine.
Jefferson Turner graduated from the University of Plymouth in 2002, and after three years of various TIE, fringe and panto appearances met and started working with Dan in 2005. In the last five years, he has been an Ugly Sister, co-written and starred in Potted Potter and Potted Pirates, appeared on Newsnight, Richard & Judyand Big Brother’s Little Brother. With Dan he has carved a successful children’s TV career, starting with regular appearances on Blue Peter in 2005, and has since appeared on The Slammer and TMI, as well as being a permanent resident of the CBBC office for over a year, starting in 2008.
