The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust presents The Fresh Beat Band, Nickelodeon's popular preschool music group and stars of the hit TV series of the same name, for two shows only on Saturday, March 17, at 3:00 & 6:00 p.m. at the Byham Theater in downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. This concert is part of the Cohen & Grigsby Trust Presents series.
Nickelodeon’s The Fresh Beat Band began its 15-week, first-ever nationwide concert tour in February, 2012, and will perform in 50 cities around the country. The tour features Kiki (Yvette Gonzalez-Nacer), Shout (Thomas Hobson), Marina (Tara Perry), and Twist (Jon Beavers) performing The Fresh Beat Band hits from seasons one, two and three of the live-action music series that teaches preschoolers about music appreciation and how to express their feelings through movement, song and instrumental music. “We are so excited to get out on the road, meet our amazing fans and perform our songs,” said The Fresh Beat Band. “The concert has something for everyone to enjoy, and we can't wait to see the families singing and dancing along.”
Tickets ($33.50-$43.50) may be purchased at the Box Office at Theater Square (655 Penn Avenue), online at www.trustarts.org, or by calling (412) 456-6666. To purchase group tickets, please call group sales (412) 471-6930. A limited number of seats are still available. VIP packages and wheelchair seating are sold out.
The Fresh Beat Band debuted in 2009 on Nickelodeon and has amassed an amazing core fan base. The Fresh Beat Band centers on four best friends – Kiki, Shout, Marina and Twist – who love to sing and dance. Kids are introduced to the fundamentals of music, such as melody, rhythm, tempo and performance styles. In each episode, preschoolers sing and dance along as they help The Fresh Beat Band solve everyday challenges. Viewers also learn the importance of friendship, working together in a positive way and respecting each other’s differences. The series has featured music superstar Ne-Yo with additional celebrity guests appearing in season three.
In 2011, The Fresh Beat Band performed live on The View and on the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., at Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play. On November 24 and 25, 2011, the band participated in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, teamed up with Jason Mraz at Carnegie Hall, and was invited to ring the opening bell at the NYSE. On Fridays in December, 2011, Nick Jr. television featured a new episode of the band in anticipation of its tour and CD release in 2012.
The band’s new music video and single “Just Like A Rock Star,” debuted on Nickelodeon and iTunes in November, 2011. The song is featured in The Fresh Beat Band’s first-ever soundtrack, which spans all three seasons of the TV series and was released in January, 2012. Both the soundtrack and the tour showcase The Fresh Beat Band’s catchy preschool-friendly tracks from “Here We Go” to “Stomp the House.” The Fresh Beat Band’s recently released singles “Here We Go” and “A Friend Like You” have been mainstays at the top of the iTunes children's music chart since their debut.
