BEAVER, PA – (January 31, 2014) - Seventeen-year-old Amber J. Liggett, CEO of Amber’s Amazing Animal Balloons will revolutionize the way people look at balloons, as she demonstrates the importance of balloons to weather.
This ambitious teen has not only been masterfully creating balloon art, but is pursuing her dream of becoming a broadcast meteorologist. She will be the youngest and only teen business owner and exhibitor at the Annual AMS National WeatherFest. Over 5,000 people are expected to attend the event. As Lead Forecaster for Foot’s Forecast Three Rivers (Facebook.com/ffthreerivers), and NCAS CAREERS Weather Camp Alumni, Amber will be making a balloon groundhog so attendees can decide if the groundhog sees his shadow this Sunday on Groundhog Day.
In February, Amber will be teaching a class at Community College of Beaver County (CCBC), PA, entitled “Wild and Wonderful Weather”, where students will learn about cloud structures, different weather patterns, and how to stay safe during severe weather. She found a fun way to educate the public about the weather in an entertaining manner through balloon art! “To touch a child’s life is to change the future,” said Amber. “It makes me happy to see a smile on my customer’s faces and know that they will be learning about weather safety too!”
Having been featured on Pittsburgh 360, and the PBS nationally syndicated BizKid$ program, Amber is no stranger to being on camera. She enjoys sharing her journey of turning a hobby into a profit gaining business during public appearances. This 2012 Teenpreneur of the Year for Black Enterprise Magazine and 2011 Ernst & Young’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year has been creating masterful balloon art and providing entertainment since the age of 9. She was a featured artist at the 2012, 2013, and 2014 First Night Pittsburgh’s New Year Celebrations, and this philanthropic teen organizes, conducts and participates in fundraisers for various organizations. A high honor student at Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School in Midland, PA and president of The National Honor Society, Amber assists other teens with their entrepreneurial endeavors and dreams including teaching (for the past five summers) at the CCBC annual Autism Summer Camp.
Recognized by the Josh Gibson Foundation in the area of Business, and having received a SHYNE Award for entrepreneurship, Amber spreads a motivational message of self-empowerment, positivity and entrepreneurship to others. She was recognized in The Washington Post’s Root’s 2013 Young Futurists List as one of “25 of the brightest African-American innovators between the ages of 16 and 22… who use their talents to make the world a better place.” Amber inspires youth and adults alike through her example, expertise, and passion to improve the world.
Now heading into its eighth year, Amber’s Amazing Animal Balloons has expanded to include face painting, spin art, sand art, cotton candy, and will soon incorporate technology. Her mastery of balloon art has dazzled onlookers young and old alike as she “brings the balloons to life” by drawing imaginative artwork on balloon creations for all to enjoy. From a tiny lady bug bracelet, to fifteen foot eagles, Amber’s amazing animal balloons and sculptures are sure to put a smile on your face!
