Dock Ellis' former agent, national and local journalists join celebration for former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher


(Pittsburgh, PA) Dock Ellis' former agent Tom Reich, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette columnist Brian O'Neill and nationally acclaimed journalist Brentin Mock will join panel discussion at inaugural event commemorating the life
and legacy of Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis on June 12, 2016, the 46th anniversary of Dock Ellis’ historic no-hitter in San Diego.

WHAT: Since1887.com, Hyperboy Media & Films and The Josh Gibson Foundation to host inaugural “Dock Ellis Day Celebration” commemorating the life and legacy of Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis. The event will include entertainment from legendary Pittsburgh DJ/WYEP-FM radio personality Selecta, a panel discussion and a special screening of the critically acclaimed documentary film: No-No A Documentary.  Proceeds will benefit the Josh Gibson Foundation.
WHO: Dock Ellis Day is a project of since1887.com, a Pittsburgh Pirates fan website started by Khari Mosley, Hyperboy Media & Films, led by Chris Ivey, an award winning Pittsburgh based filmmaker and the Josh Gibson Foundation, a local non-profit organization, led by Sean Gibson Executive Director

WHY: The purpose of the event is to commemorate the life and legacy of Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis, a one of a kind personality who, as a player, made a lasting impact on sport and popular culture. In addition, we aim to highlight and honor the work Dock Ellis did to transform many lives in a positive way as a drug and alcohol counselor later in life. We believe the anniversary of his historic no-hitter is a great opportunity to celebrate the full life and legacy of Dock Ellis while benefiting the Josh Gibson Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing academic programs, athletic programs and baseball training facilities benefiting the youth of the Pittsburgh community.
