2014 Summer Season
The 2014 Summer Season opens May 30 at the Benedum Center and will include the following:

Singin’ in the Rain
May 30 – June 8
Screenplay by Betty Comden and Adolph Green
Songs by  Nacio Herb Brown and Arthur Freed
Based on the classic Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film by special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Inc.

A GLORIOUS FEELIN’ FOR ALL THEATER LOVERS!
All the makings of a tinsel town tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes things aren't always as they appear on the big screen!  Meanwhile, Lina’s squeaky voice might be the end of her career in “talking pictures” without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her.  This extraordinary score is a downright downpour of magical musical: “Singin’ in the Rain,” “Make ‘Em Laugh” and “Good Mornin’.”

Legally Blonde The Musical
June 13 - 22
Book by Heather Hach
Music and Lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin
Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture

GET READY FOR SOME BLONDE AMBITION!
It's here, and it's "AN ELLE OF A SHOW" (TIME Magazine).  Based on the hilarious MGM film, Legally Blonde The Musical follows sorority star Elle Woods, an underestimated blonde who doesn't take "no" for an answer.  When her boyfriend dumps her for someone more "serious," Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style.  This musical juggernaut features such instant classics as “Omigod You Guys,” “Bend and Snap, “Take It Like a Man” and more!

Footloose
June 24 - 29
Music by Tom Snow
Stage Adaptation by Dean Pitchford & Walter Bobbie
Lyrics by Dean Pitchford | Based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford
Additional Music by Eric Carmen, Sammy Hagar, Kenny Loggins & Jim Steinman

KICK OFF YOUR SUNDAY SHOES!
Get ready to “cut loose” with this Pittsburgh CLO premiere!  When teenager Ren McCormack moves from the big city to middle-of-nowhere Bomont, where even dancing is against the law, he's in for a real case of culture shock. After falling for the preacher’s daughter, Ren really shakes things up.  When he and fellow rebellious teenagers defy authority and dare to dance, the result is a fast-paced rock ‘n roll musical featuring the  Billboard-topping hits “Footloose,” “Let’s Hear It for the Boy,” “Almost Paradise” and “Holding Out for a Hero.”

Evita - Direct from Broadway
July 8-13
Lyrics by Tim Rice
Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber
TIM RICE & ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER's TONY AWARD®-WINNING MUSICAL RETURNS AT LAST!
Eva PerĂ³n used her beauty and charisma to rise meteorically from the slums of Argentina to the presidential mansion as First Lady. Adored by her people as a champion for the poor, she became one of the most powerful women in the world — while her greed, outsized ambition and fragile health made her one of the most tragic. Evita tells Eva's passionate and unforgettable true story, and features some of theater's most beautiful songs, including "Don't Cry for Me Argentina," "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" and "High Flying, Adored."  Don't miss the stunning new production of Evita, directed by Michael Grandage and choreographed by Rob Ashford, that Channel 4 New York calls, “THE HOTTEST TICKET IN TOWN!”
