Park PGH to Receive National Transportation Award for City’s First Comprehensive “Smart” Parking System



Details of New First-in-the-Nation Predictive Parking System to be Unveiled at Press Conference on Monday, Oct. 3

WHAT: ParkPGH, Pittsburgh’s first comprehensive “smart” parking system, will be the focus of a national transportation award recognizing the City’s use of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) to ease traffic congestion and make drivers’ commutes more convenient by delivering real-time information about parking availability in all Cultural District garages.

The Smart Solution Spotlightaward will be presented by Scott Belcher, President and CEO of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America), the nation’s largest association focused on encouraging transportation innovation. The ITS AmericaSmart Solution Spotlight award recognizes the country’s most innovative uses of smart technology to create a safe, clean, efficient and sustainable transportation system.

A media briefing on Phase 2 of the project — Predictive Parking — will follow the award presentation.
