“This Québécois supergroup brilliantly explored and updated its country’s francophone tradition.” -Hopkins Center For The Arts

Since 2003, Éric Beaudry, André Brunet and Pierre-Luc Dupuis have been exploring and performing time-honoured melodies from the stomping grounds of Quebec’s musical past. Using fiddle, accordion, harmonica, guitar, bouzouki and a number of other instruments, these three virtuosos blend boundless energy with the unmistakable joie de vivre found only in traditional Quebec music.

ANDRÉ BRUNET’s unwavering energy and refined style earned him a spot with La Bottine Souriante, with whom he toured more than 15 countries over the course of 10 years. Although his journey with La Bottine Souriante came to an end in 2006, André remained immersed in traditional music. At the Grand Masters Fiddling Competition in August 2008—an event showcasing more than twenty violinists from across Canada— André took home top honours as "Grand Master of Canada.”

PIERRE-LUC DUPUIS founded Les Langues Fourchures at age 19, with whom he recorded his first album in 2001. In 2003, he joined La Bottine Souriante, one of the province’s best-known music groups. Since then, he’s wowed audiences from Dublin to Porto and Budapest to Melbourne with his unique humour and warm-hearted charisma. Since ending his journey with La Bottine Souriante in 2008, Pierre-Luc has devoted himself to his true love—De Temps Antan.
ÉRIC BEAUDRY founded La Galvaude, followed-up later by Ni Sarpe Ni Branche and Norouet. He is the recipient of several awards including a 2002 Prix Mnémo for his role in producing the album Musique gaspésienne, featuring violinist Édouard Richard. In 2003, Éric became a member of La Bottine Souriante. He began teaching traditional music at Joliette’s CEGEP régional de Lanaudière in 2002. Wherever he performs, Éric’s rich vocal range and unquestionable talent on stringed instruments guarantee a rousing performance for all.

This engagement of De Temps Antan is funded through the Mid Atlantic Tours program of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Founded in 1976, Calliope is a non-profit music organization that organizes and administers a variety of concert series, a folk music school, and educational outreach programs.  As the premier promoter of roots music in southwestern Pennsylvania, Calliope’s mission is to promote and preserve traditional and contemporary heritage-based music and its allied arts.  Calliope programs are supported in part by the A.W. Mellon Education and Charitable Trust Fund of the Pittsburgh Foundation, The Allegheny County sales tax revenues awarded by the Allegheny Regional Asset District, The Heinz endowments, Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, University of Pittsburgh Library System, and an anonymous donor. Filter Theatre, in association with the Royal Shakespeare Company, transforms this age old Shakespearian comedy into a condensed, fast-paced play complete with an acoustic sound and atmosphere. “The stage for their version of Twelfth Night is more reminiscent of a rock gig than a straight play, strewn as it is with sound equipment and musical instruments,” Paul Taylor, theatre reviewer for the UK’s Independent newspaper.
“Filter's lo-fi, 90min remix of Shakespeare's comedy infects the audience with the play's celebratory spirit of madness from the start...You leave feeling slightly changed yourself.” – The Metro.
This explosive new take on Shakespeare’s play is sure to enchant all with its Shakespearian foundation but modern, alternative approach.  All are welcome to attend.
