World-Renowned Motivational Speaker Comes to Kick-Start the Year for Entrepreneurs in Pittsburgh

Mount Ararat Baptist Church’s Entrepreneurs for Christ and Amachi Pittsburgh have partnered to host
“Make Everything Great in 2008” an entrepreneurial event featuring Les Brown,
world-renowned motivational speaker, best-selling author, radio and television personality on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, 271 Paulson Avenue, in East Liberty.


This free event is open to aspiring and existing business owners and multi-level marketing professionals. Attendees can obtain a free ticket to the event at the following locations:
Mt. Ararat Baptist Church, Monday-Friday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Les Brown delivers a high-energy message that assists professionals in shaking off mediocrity and living up to their greatness. His message is reflective of what he has learned from his own life, and one that he is helping others apply to their lives. Brown has had no formal education beyond high school, but with persistence and determination he has initiated and continued a process of unending self-education, which has distinguished him as an authority on harnessing human potential.

The event will be hosted by WPXI Anchor Darieth Chisolm and will feature Brown speaking to Pittsburgh’s entrepreneurs on how to impact their business and Pittsburgh’s business community by using their vision, discovering their purpose and igniting the drive the lies within all who inspires to greatness.

Mt. Ararat Baptist Church’s Entrepreneurs for Christ is an organization that meets monthly to assist aspiring and existing entrepreneurs. Their mission is to encourage, develop and support entrepreneurs by providing leadership, fellowship, education and resources for the advancement of the Church Kingdom.

Amachi Pittsburgh is a unique partnership of secular and faith-based organizations working together to provide mentoring to children of incarcerated parents. Faith institutions work with human service providers and public agencies (particularly justice institutions) to identify children of prisoners and match them with caring adults.

Enterprize Business Plan Competition Gears Up Its Tenth Season

ENTERPRIZE BUSINESS PLAN COMPETITION GEARS UP ITS TENTH SEASON

Pittsburgh, PA, January 28, 2008…The Pittsburgh Technology Council has announced that its EnterPrize Business Plan Competition will kick off this year on Wednesday, February 20, 2008
with a workshop entitled, “Developing the Idea.” The workshop will be held at the training facility at the Council’s offices in the Pittsburgh Technology Center, starting with registration at 5:30 p.m. The workshop will wrap up with a question and answer session at 7:30 p.m. The cost for EnterPrize competitors and Council members is $25.00, and the cost for non-members is $40.00.

Each EnterPrize workshop will feature subject matter experts and distinguished professionals who will present a wide variety of key topics that are necessary to consider in developing a business plan. Budding entrepreneurs with ideas for potential high-growth business are urged to attend this and seven other workshops throughout the series to ensure that their business plans include everything potential investors require, all the while competing for cash prizes to fund their businesses. Last year, EnterPrize awarded $80,000 to participants in two categories over three phases of the competition. Participants in the competition, regardless of whether they have won or lost, have attracted a total of more than $100 million in venture capital funding over the course of the nine years the competition has been in existence.

Phase I: Business Concept

Three businesses in each category will win cash prizes for developing an executive summary that:

• defines customer value
• estimates market size
• selects target audience
• determines feasibility
• predicts profitability
• generates business leads

Phase II: Business Plan Components

Two businesses in each category will win cash prizes for expanding their business plans by:

• examining the components of a successful plan
• understanding what investors seek
• focusing on the final product
• working with a coach

Phase III: Business Plan Details

One business in each category business will win cash prizes for finalizing its business plan with:

• market, competition and sales information
• product or service features
• implementation schedules
• financing requirements

Immediate Release 2-1-08 Entrepreneurial Thursdays New Venue

"Entrepreneurial Thursdays at Sassy Marie's"



Due to the unexpected closing of the Red Star Tavern, the “Entrepreneurial Thursdays” Rhythm Jazz & Blues Happy Hour Show has moved to a new venue!

Beginning on Thursday, February 21st, the show will run every Thursday from 5:30 PM – 8 PM at SASSY MARIE’S (formerly, the legendary jazz club known as the James Street Tavern) on Pittsburgh’s Historic North Side. Sassy Marie’s is located at the corner of James Street and Foreland Street – 422 Foreland Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212. The show will be held in the newly renovated 2nd floor room, which has a separate entrance on James Street and the feel of an old school jazz club.

We look forward to supporting the entrepreneurs of Sassy Marie’s as they continue the James Street Tavern tradition of excellence in live music performance!
