THE MUSIC OF LED ZEPPELIN WITH
THE PITTSBURGH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Zebra’s Randy Jackson on vocals and guitar; presented by 102.5 WDVE

PITTSBURGH – The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and a full rock band, featuring Randy Jackson of Zebra, join forces to perform Led Zeppelin's classic songs in a brilliant combination of passion and power in the Music of Led Zeppelin, presented by 102.5 WDVE, on Thursday, July 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Heinz Hall.

The Music of Led Zeppelin was first performed in 1996 and was transcribed and scored by Brent Havens, who is guest conducting this performance. The performance features songs from the vast Zeppelin catalog, such as “Kashmir,” “Black Dog,” “All of My Love” and “Stairway to Heaven.”

Tickets, ranging in price from $25 to $75, can be purchased by calling the Heinz Hall box office at 412-392-4900, or at www.pittsburghsymphony.org.

Randy Jackson is the lead singer/guitarist for the rock band Zebra, who released their self-titled Zebra debut album on Atlantic Records in 1983. Critically acclaimed for its lush rock sounds, due in large part to Jackson's searing lead vocals and soaring guitar leads, the album sold 75,000 copies the first week. “Who's Behind The Door” and “Tell Me What You Want,” written by Jackson, received serious notice in the press and helped to form legions of Zebra fans. The latest Zebra release, Zebra IV, was also produced and engineered by Jackson. Jackson toured as keyboardist, guitarist and backing vocalist in 1989 with the original, reunited Jefferson Airplane, their last tour together. He has also worked extensively in the area of musical software and hardware development.

Berklee-trained arranger/conductor Brent Havens has written music for orchestras, feature films and virtually every kind of television. Havens also has worked with the Doobie Brothers and the Milwaukee Symphony, arranging and conducting the combined group for Harley Davidson’s 100th Anniversary Birthday Party Finale attended by more than 150,000. He has worked with some of the world's greatest orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic in London, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra and many others. Havens is arranger/guest conductor for seven symphonic rock programs—the Music of Led Zeppelin, the Music of the Doors, the Music of Pink Floyd, the Music of the Eagles, the Music of Queen, the Music of Michael Jackson and most recently, the Music of The Who!
