Pittsburgh, PA—The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust welcomes multi-talented and award-winning Broadway star, Ann Hampton Callaway, who will perform at the Cabaret at Theater Square, 655 Penn Avenue, downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District, on Monday, April 13, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. This performance is part of the TRUST Cabaret Series, presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.  This series provides a unique and intimate opportunity for audiences to experience the finest cabaret acts in the entertainment industry. 

Ann Hampton Callaway is a singer, pianist, composer, actress, educator, TV host and producer. Her unique singing style blends jazz and traditional pop, making her a mainstay in concert halls, theaters and jazz clubs as well as in the recording studio, on television, and in film. She is best known for her Tony-nominated performance in the Broadway musicalSwing! and for writing and singing the theme song to the TV series The Nanny. Callaway is a Platinum Award-winning writer and the only composer to have collaborated with Cole Porter. She also wrote songs with Barbara Streisand, Carole King, Rolf Lovland, Barbara Carroll and more. 

Ms. Callaway has sung with more than thirty of the world's top orchestras and big bands, has performed for President Clinton, and at President Gorbachev's Youth Peace Summit in Moscow. Her live performances showcase warmth, spontaneous wit and passionate delivery of standards, jazz classics and originals. TICKETS ON SALE NOW FOR PITTSBURGH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA CINEMA SERENADE CONCERT

Concert features the return of renowned violinist Itzhak Perlman to Heinz Hall

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will kick off its 2015-2016 season in grand style on September 12 at 7 p.m. with violin superstar Itzhak Perlman returning to Heinz Hall to perform some of the most moving songs from the Silver Screen with Music Director Manfred Honeck.

Perlman and the orchestra will perform selections from “Cinema Serenade,” a 1997 recording on which Perlman, the Pittsburgh Symphony and conductor John Williams collaborated.

Concert-only tickets range in price from $35 to $150 and are on sale now. Tickets can be purchased at the Heinz Hall box office, online at pittsburghsymphony.org or by phone at 412-392-4900.

Few might have predicted that striking level of stardom some forty years ago, when Benson was a fledgling guitarist working the corner pubs of his native Pittsburgh. That’s where his desire to please a crowd was born. “I was an entertainer first,” he says proudly.  “As a kid I sang, danced, and played the ukulele in a nightclub. As my career has progressed, I’ve had the pleasure of playing with the baddest jazz cats on the planet. But that doesn’t change my desire to entertain folks. That’s really who I am.”
