OCTOBER 19 ̶ 26, 2014 | SIX PERFORMANCE LOCATIONS IN PITTSBURGH!
Pittsburgh, PA ̶   Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater, a division of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, presents Theatreworks USA’s Skippyjon Jones from October 19 ̶ 26, 2014, at six performance locations throughout the area.  Tickets go on sale September 8th at 9:00am.

“A popular book brought to life on stage opens our season and we are excited to host this award-winning theater company so that children and families throughout the region can experience live professional performances in their neighborhood,” commented Pamela K. Lieberman, Manager of Children’s Programming from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and Executive Director of Pittsburgh International Children’s Theater.

Theatreworks USA’s Skippyjon Jones, based on the book of same title by Judy Schachner, is an enchanting musical for younger audiences that tells a story about unleashing your powerful imagination and following your dreams.  Devanand Janki is the director and choreographer for this current tour.  The scenery is designed by Rob Odorisio, with costumes by Tracy Christensen and features a libretto and lyrics by Kevin Del Aguila (Drama Desk nominee for ALTAR BOYZ and Theatreworks USA’s Click, Clack, Moo!).  Theatreworks USA’s Skippyjon Jones was nominated for a 2013 Lucille Lortel Award in the Outstanding Musical category.  This 60-minute musical is recommended for ages 4 and up.

Skippyjon Jones tells the tale of a Siamese cat with big dreams and an even bigger will to be anything but a cat! “Holy guacamole,” Skippyjon exclaims. “My ears are too big for my head, my head is too big for my body. I am not a Siamese cat – I am a CHIHUAHUA!” Take an adventurous ride as Skippyjon Jones struggles to find himself and is faced with one of the biggest decision of his life; will he help save his “fellow” Chihuahua’s or will he soon realize that he may be the wimpy little Siamese cat that he’s been hiding from.

Pittsburgh, PA— The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust presents one of the greatest contemporary voices of our time, Linda Eder, at the Cabaret at Theater Square, 655 Penn Avenue, on Monday, October 6, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. This performance is part of the TRUST Cabaret Series, presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. This series provides a unique and intimate opportunity for audiences to experience the finest cabaret acts in the entertainment industry.

Linda Eder’s diverse repertoire spans Broadway, standards, pop, country, and jazz. As the tragic character “Lucy” in the Broadway musical JEKYLL & HYDE, from composer Frank Wildhorn, Eder blew the roof off of New York’s Plymouth Theatre each night as she belted out signature songs “Someone Like You” and “A New Life.”  Ms. Eder was rewarded with a Drama Desk nomination for her Broadway debut.

Born in Tucson, Arizona, and raised in Brainerd, Minnesota, Linda Eder began her career singing in her home state and eventually landed a gig at Harrah’s Casino in Atlantic City. But it was her appearances on the 1987 season of Star Search, where she won for an unprecedented 12 weeks, which attracted the attention of audiences and record companies alike. Ms. Eder launched her recording career in 1991 with her self-titled debut album and soon established a vital niche as America’s most popular and acclaimed new interpreter of pop standards and theatrical songs with 15 solo albums and 12 musical recordings.

Linda Eder has performed at many prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Town Hall, The Kennedy Center, Davies Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Wolftrap and the Ravinia Festival. Always touring in good company, her collaborations include the late Oscar-winning composer and pianist Marvin Hamlisch, Tony-winner Michael Feinstein and Keith Lockhart, conductor of the Boston Pops Orchestra.

Jackie Evancho to Perform with PSO

PITTSBURGH SENSATION JACKIE EVANCHO RETURNS TO HEINZ HALL TO PERFORM WITH MEMBERS OF THE PITTSBURGH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

PITTSBURGH – Jackie Evancho, the 14-year-old vocal sensation from Pittsburgh, returns to her hometown to perform with members of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra on February 13, 2015.

Evancho, who first gained fame as a runner up on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” at 10 years old, releases her third studio album, “Awakening,” on September 23. Her performance with the Pittsburgh Symphony will feature the lush classical-crossover compositions for which she has become known, as well as the more contemporary material that can be found on her new album. Evancho also will sing several original songs and music from Broadway.

“Of course there are always going to be some classical pieces but I wanted to reinvent the pop songs and make them my own,” said Evancho of the new album. “The only thing that mattered was that the song spoke to me.”

Jackie Evancho dazzled American television audiences at age 10, gaining global recognition with her stunning debut on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.” She was immediately signed to Columbia Records where she released a string of successful recordings including “O Holy Night,” “Dream With Me,” “Heavenly Christmas” and “Songs From the Silver Screen.” She has since acted in Robert Redford’s “The Company You Keep” alongside Susan Sarandon, Shia LeBeouf and Nick Nolte, and performed as a special guest in Cirque du Soleil’s “One Night for One Drop” benefit at the Bellagio in Las Vegas. She also starred in the fall 2012 GUESS Kids clothing campaign, and in June, she performed the classic film song “Over the Rainbow” at the prestigious Songwriters Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Evancho has participated in the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in Washington, D.C., where she delighted President and Mrs. Obama. She performed before 100,000 people in Russia with opera stars Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Sumi Jo prior to the opening of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, and has performed in Japan before the Royal Family at the Imperial Palace. Her first PBS special was one of the top pledge producing performances in PBS history. Her wide-ranging achievements caused Billboard to include her on its list of “music movers-and-shakers under the age of 21 in 2011 and 2012.
